Last week I got the chance to spend the afternoon with a wonderful couple and their beautiful baby. We spent a beautiful day at the National Botanical Gardens and the National Mall. Here are a few pictures from the day. Excited to photograph their wedding in a few weeks!

Happy 2010 everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. My December was full of vacations, family, and photo sessions. Here is one of my photo shoots I did over Thanksgiving (wow, I haven't posted in awhile!!!) We went to Whiting Forest in Midland, Michigan. It was a great location, especially in the fall. I look forward to going back for some more photo shoots soon.

A few days ago I finally had the chance to photograph my little, beautiful, fun sister Katya. We didn't have much time to take photos with the sun setting so early (and her not getting out of school until 4), but we got a few great shots in!

Fall Session

Over the weekend I met with one of my wonderful couples for a mini engagement session. We met near Whiting Forest in Midland where the couple had found some beautiful trees. After this session, I decided that fall was one of my favorite times to photograph with all of the beautiful trees. Here are some of their photos. I am SO excited to photograph their wedding next year!

About one month ago I had the pleasure of photographing Jason and Sydney in Ft. Worth, Texas. This month Jason, Sydney, and I got together once again, this time in Michigan for part two of their engagement session. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day and the weather was about 50 degrees cooler than it was in Texas. Here are my favorite photos from the session. It's so nice to be up in Michigan during this beautiful time of the year. I am so excited for all of the trees to change color! After photographing Phil and Jessica I got to head over to Traverse City to meet up with Kyle and Christine (Christine is my husband's sister). Since they will be getting married in September in South Carolina I offered to do some photos for them before the wedding here in Michigan. They are such a fun couple and I can't wait for their wedding in a month :)

If you've never been to Northern Michigan in the summer I highly recommend it. For this engagement session I got to spend some time with my good friends Phil and Jessica near Crystal Lake. We started our session on a Lake Michigan beach where Phil proposed and then took a stroll in downtown Frankfort. The weather was perfect and the bright blue water was refreshing. Here are some of their photos. Congrats again Phil and Jessica!!

Hey Everyone!

I have been REALLY busy with engagement sessions so I'll be posting a few new blogs in the next few days. Here is a session I did at Michigan State University a few weeks ago. I was super excited to meet Matt and Brittany in East Lansing on the campus of MSU to do their session. For starters, I love Michigan State (sorry Wolverine fans) and the campus is absolutely beautiful. It was also wonderful to walk around with Matt and Brittany... such a nice couple! My husband and I just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary by beginning our long drive up to Michigan to spend time with our friends and family. On our way up, we stopped by the Fort Worth Stockyards to photograph Sydney and Jason. Although it was a HOT day, we enjoyed spending our last day in Texas for awhile walking around the stockyards with this wonderful couple. Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot.

I was so happy when my younger sister told me she was coming to visit us in Houston. My family lives in Michigan and I haven't seen them since Christmas, so I was eager for her to come and visit. While she was here we decided to take some new headshots for her. (She's a theater major at Hope College). We had a great time and we got some awesome shots. Here are just a few. That was also the weekend I started training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. That's right, I'm running a marathon... and I'm raising $4500 for the cause! Engagement and Couple Photography

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to photograph my two friends Chelsea and Stephen. We spent a nice Saturday afternoon at the Kemah Boardwalk. I LOVE taking photos there because of all the great colors and activities. It's so much fun. It has some great restaurants as well... yummmm, Landrys :)

Hey everyone!!! Thanks for coming and checking out my blog! I just did a mini-makeover to my photo website, and thought I'd add in a blog so you could see what projects we've recently been working on at Emily Hansen Photography. As some of you may know, my husband, Matt and I moved down to Houston, Texas from Boston, Massachusetts after we got married last summer, and now we're getting used to southern living. Here are some photos that I've taken since we've been down here.

So, Matt and I literally moved to Houston RIGHT before Hurricane Ike. We moved into our apartment the day our area was being evacuated. Thankfully, we were safe and our home was fine. Many wonderful people lost their homes and everything in them. I was volunteering for awhile with a group called CORE who went out and helped gut some of the homes. I took this photo a few months after the storm with a group that had come from Arizona to help out. It was pretty cool how many people came from all around the US to help out.
